Land Stewardship & Native Plants
Long-term care for estates, resorts, and shared grounds on Kauai, built around native plants and the soil that supports them.
Large properties need a landscape that holds up all year: through trade winds, salt spray, heavy rain, and the occasional hurricane. We manage grounds with that in mind, favoring plants suited to each site and keeping the soil alive so the planting needs less intervention over time.
What's included
- Native and climate-suited plantings, including coastal species like naupaka
- Renewal pruning and hedge restoration
- Erosion and drainage control on slopes and low spots
- Ongoing grounds programs for estates, resorts, and HOAs
- Ponds and water features designed as healthy ecosystems: water quality, edge plantings, and the biology that keeps them clear
Why native plants
Native Hawaiian coastal plants evolved with salt, wind, and these soils. Placed in the right spot, they often need less water and fewer inputs than imported ornamentals, and they support the island's own ecology.
Questions
Common questions
Do you work on resort and HOA grounds?
Yes. We work with property and facilities managers on ongoing programs as well as one-time projects. The first step is a site assessment so we can scope the work accurately.
Which plants hold up to salt wind on the coast?
Native coastal species such as naupaka kahakai handle salt spray and wind far better than most ornamentals. The right choice depends on exposure, soil, and drainage at your site, which we check during the assessment.
Can you help with a pond or water feature?
Yes. We design and plant water features as living systems and diagnose problems such as algae and poor water quality. Electrical work for pumps is done by a licensed electrician.
Start with a site assessment
A one-hour visit: we walk the property with you, look at the soil, roots, and plants, and explain what's going on. The $100 fee is credited toward the work if you go ahead.
